2016 Newsom Cabernet Franc
Planted in 1986, Newsom Vineyards is on the west side of the High Plains AVA in Yoakum County. At 3700 feet, their site is comprised of shallow, red sandy-clay loam over caliche, making it an ideal vineyard for farming red grapes. The grapes were harvested, sorted and destemmed at night in the Newsom's barn before being hauled back to the winery. Aged 18 months in neutral and second use French oak. This wine is unfiltered and will drop some sediment over time. Pairs well with roast pork, grilled steak, portabella mushrooms, or turkey with cranberry sauce.
